Spelling Quiz

Today we did a spelling quiz in groups on the iPads. We learnt how to make a word into a plural by putting an 's' at the end. Everyone had to agree on an answer and then we selected the right one. It was a tough competition but the group Cool were the winners.

Digraph

Our digraph this week is 'ar'. Today we thought of as many words as we could that use ar. Some words had it at the beginning like art and army. Some had it in the middle like sparkle, harmony and supermarket. Some had it at the end like scar and jar. We came up with so many words!

Rhythm

We made our own rhythms using fruit loops to represent each note. One fruit loop was 'ta' and two together were 'ti-ti-'.

Rhythm

This week we are learning about rhythm. Rhythm is the patterns that we can hear in music. We made our own rhythms by using coloured cups to represent notes and rests. Here we are practising one of our rhythms.

Nursery Rhymes

This week we have been learning about rhyming words. We tried putting our own rhyming words into nursery rhymes. Look at our book of wacky nursery rhymes.

Maths Week Final Bonus Question

Olivia started to read chapter books. She read 1 book in January, 2 books in February, 3 books in March. If she continues to read 1 more book each month, how many books in all would she have read by the end of May?

Maths Challenge

Momo the chicken lays 3 eggs a week. Coco the chicken lays 5 eggs a week. How many eggs do both chickens lay in 2 weeks?

Art

Every Wednesday for the rest of the term, Room 24 will be doing art. If possible could you please send in an art shirt or an old t-shirt that you don't mind getting messy. These can be kept at school.

Arahoe's Got Talent

Well done to everyone who auditioned for Arahoe's Got Talent. There were a lot of items from our class and you all gave it a really good go.

The second round is happening this Thursday and there are two items from 24 that have been called back. Well done to Lorin who will be singing and Azra and Quinn who have some magic.

This week is Maths Week! In class we will be completing challenges to earn Maths Dollars. Each day there will be a bonus question on the blog. Anyone who can tell me the answer the next day will earn extra Dollars.

Dynamics

Today we learnt about dynamics. Dynamics is the volume of sound - it can be loud or soft. We watched this video of some people making a thunderstorm by using their body. They start out quiet and then the dynamics get louder and louder. We wanted to try our own thunderstorm just like the video. It sounds pretty real. Check it out below.
