Topic

As you will be aware our topic this term is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We have been investigating shadows so far and are beginning to look at stars, the Sun and the Moon. To get involved with this at home, you could go outside at night and look at the sky. Get your child to draw a picture of what they see and have some discussion.

- What does the moon look like?
- How many stars are there? Can you count them?
- What do the stars look like?
- Are the stars making any patterns in the sky?

Send these pictures into school so we can all share what we saw!

Road Safety Week

This week is Road Safety Week. Today we started talking about how we can keep ourselves safe when we are walking and driving.

Some of our Room 1 buddies came to show us how to cross the road safely.

Then we did another statistical investigation. We asked the question 'What types of traffic are there around Arahoe School?'

We created a tally chart then went up to the road. We put a tally mark for every vehicle that came by.

We learnt that the most common type of traffic is cars.

Although there weren't many cars that came by we think that when we come to school in the morning and when we go home, there will be much more. We need to watch for traffic so we can stay safe.
